We were so tempted, based on that experience, to go with a Graco again, but the looks and reviews of this Papasan changed our minds. In retrospect, I should have gone with my instinct. The Papasan is pretty, and has some great features - the mobile with choice of sounds, and volume is cute, as is the little mirrored part - both of which our baby loves. This is a great feature as it really keeps her occupied. However, it seems to have a much shorter use period.at first it was way too big for a newborn, she was petite, but still it was approaching her 2 month stage before we could really use it due to lack of reclining choices which the Graco, in contrast has. It was also way too fast at even the slowest speed. But, now at not even 5 months - either the motor is on its way out or she is too heavy, despite still being on the petite side weight wise. It has gone from way too fast to way too slow - heck it barely moves. Add to which it does not have a good upright option. I see us with this for only a few more weeks.its a shame as I was hoping for at least a few months longer - cute, but less functional that the graco model! I don't know if mine is defective or if other people have had this issue as well, but it's incredibly frustrating for a swing that I've paid good money for.

He would slump over in the more upright position because he wasn't strong enough to hold himself up yet. The swing not only swings front to back, it swings side to side and my little guy loves to swing left to right. He likes the music and the mobile, although I can't see how he can even tell what he is looking at because the mobile faces out, not down towards the swing. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because when you have the activity bar snapped on it is pretty hard to get your little one in and out of the swing. It doesn't snap on or off very easily, so you need to decide before you put your little guy in there if you want it on. If your baby has fallen asleep in the swing, thanks to the bar, there really isn't a good way to get him out without waking him. Still, this is worth the money and I would recommend it to any new parent. My son loves it so much more then his bouncy seat which was just about as expensive. For now though, it works good, and another good thing is that the music and lights of the mobile are actually very stimulating and work independently of one another, where you can have sound with no movement and light or vice versa.
