Common questions

Stone questions, answered.

Is stone sold by the yard or the ton?

Stone and sand are sold by the ton; mulch and topsoil by the cubic yard. A cubic yard of stone weighs roughly 1.4 tons, and the stone calculator converts your measurements for you.

What stone should I use for a driveway?

Start with a compacting base such as quarry blend or crushed concrete, then finish with 3/4-inch gray, red, or white stone. Calculate the base and finish layers separately. The material guide walks through it.

How much can one truck deliver?

From three tons up to about 25 tons depending on the truck and material. The right truck avoids paying for two split loads. See delivery and fleet options.

Can I see the stone before I buy it?

Yes. Every product is displayed at the Route 206 yard so you can compare color and size in daylight before ordering.
